Steve dump 1
Heavy dumping activities today.

The bad news.

Last week was certainly a challenging one for us here at Erie Ale Works. Arguably the most critical piece of equipment in our brewery malfunctioned on Thursday causing a serious production hurdle that we're just now recovering from. Our glycol chiller provides cooling power for all our vessels on the production floor and different temperature settings are required for a proper and clean fermentation and conditioning of each beer. The chiller's thermostat/controller device pooped out on us disabling our ability to control temperature in our cellar tanks. With the nearest available replacement two business days away, it caused uncontrollable temperature rises in all the beer in production.

The majority of the beer sitting on the production floor will go down the drain along with Steve's time and effort associated with each. On the dump schedule are: our new, yet-to-be-properly-named, West Coast IPA, hazy IPA Nexus of the Universe, and a fresh batch of Marvintown, our German Pilsner.

The good news.

The chiller was successfully repaired (!!) and Steve can begin brewing beer again. When we used to work together for Corporate America we would use the phrase, "It's not done right, 'til it's done twice!" That definitely applies here... Everything else EAW-related remains unchanged: our hours of operation are the same and we're anxiously awaiting to greet each of you this week. A little mechanical bump in the road can't keep us down!

We've always been about transparency here and this situation is no different, it's all part of the community aspect and intention of our business. While you may see a guest tap or two in the coming weeks due to a lack of inventory just know we're cranking away to make up for lost time (and beer).

Thank you for your support of your local brewery!
