One Year in the Books!

We Freakin’ Did It

On September 6, 2014 we opened our doors to the very first time. Three and a half years of planning, homebrewing, making mistakes and wallowing through the trials and tribulations of a startup business in Erie, PA came to a conclusion.

We started out with one beer, our pale ale (which has evolved twice into it’s current rendition) and had grand ideas that English-style beers would be our claim to fame here in Erie. Well that simply just didn’t work out. Erieites as a whole didn’t really understand why an English Mild is only 3.8% and still costs as much as a 6% ABV beer. So we changed gears and dove into stout territory, kicking out Keyboard Warrior and Get Hip or Split.

It took us ten months to brew our first IPA mostly due to materials expense and we didn’t feel we were as comfortable with our system until then. Immortal Rules (they do, see here) was launched in early Summer just in time for beer fest season.

Now, we commemorate 365 days of EAW with another IPA, this time a session edition dubbed, Mega Deluxe. 4.5% ABV and 40 IBUs. We tap this bad boy on Friday, September 11th at the brewery.

On Saturday, September 12th we’ll have a day full of good stuff including our own HAZARD (Homebrewers and Zymurgists Alcohol Research Division) from 1PM – 4PM and the Eerie Roller Girls from 5PM – 8PM. Our newest beer will be on tap all day along with our other offerings including a root beer made with local honey.

Until then, reminisce with some tasteful beer reviews from this year’s Erie Craft Beer Week:
